Impact Wrestling “Genesis” from Nashville, Tennessee, USA 🇺🇸 at Skyway Studio on 1/9/21 airing on Impact Plus and FITE TV:

Super X-Cup Tournament Match: Blake Christian pinned KC Navarro after Air Blake Splash.

Super X-Cup Tournament Match: Cousin Jake pinned Shawn Daivari after a sidewalk slam.

Super X-Cup Tournament Match: Crazzy Steve pinned Tre Lamar after the Diving DDT.

Moose did a backstage interview.  He said Willie Mack made a stupid decision to request an “I Quit” Match against him tonight. He said he will use Mack and this match to send Rich Swann a warning message.

Super X-Cup Tournament Semifinals Match: Ace Austin pinned Cousin Jake after slingshotting into the ring and hitting The Fold.

Backstage, Rich Swann gave Willie Mack a last minute pep talk going into the “I Quit” Match.

Super X-Cup Tournament Semifinals Match: Blake Christian pinned Crazzy Steve after a 450 Splash as Steve was draped over the ropes.

Jazz did a backstage interview saying she was ready to retire last year until she got the call from Jordynne Grace to be her tag partner and it was too good to pass up. Now they will have a singles match out of respect for each other.

Jordynne Grace pinned Jazz after reversing a roll-up. Grace raised Jazz’s arm afterwards and they hugged. Good match and the best match on the show so far. It was a refreshing change of pace after having the Super X-Cup Tournament crammed together for most of the show.

Backstage, Blake Christian did a brief interview. He said he was nervous but needed to get his emotions under control for the tournament finals. He said he knows he has to watch out for Mad Man Fulton in addition to Ace Austin.

Super X-Cup Tournament Finals: Ace Austin pinned Blake Christian with The Fold. Mad Man Fulton stayed in the back the whole time and did not interfere. Impact Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore came out after the match and gave Austin the cup trophy.

“I Quit” Match main event: Willie Mack beat Self-proclaimed TNA World Champion Moose in a dud finish. Moose was about to smash Mack with a chair as another chair was around Mack’s neck. Impact World Champion Rich Swann ran out and said Moose was going too far and he’d give him what he wants if he quits. Moose said he wanted a shot at the World Title. Swann agreed. Moose then calmly said “Thank you, I Quit” and left the ring to walk to the back. Swann checked on a laid out Mack as the show went off the air.

This was another dull offering from Impact Wrestling a week before their $40 major pay-per-view “Hard To Kill”. They would be better served by keeping these shows at two hours max instead of nearly three. There was nothing particularly bad aside from the main event, but all of the Super X-Cup Matches felt like a mix of telegraphed spots and basic high spots that went on forever. On the bright side, there were none of the usual corny backstage skit segments.

“Hard To Kill” on 1/16/21 will see Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers vs. Rich Swann and The Motor City Machine Guns in a 6-man tag team main event, plus Nevaeh and Havok vs. Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz to decide the vacant Knockouts Tag Team Titles, Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo vs. Taya Valkyrie and X-Division Champion Manik vs. Chris Bey vs. Rohit Raju as the title matches on the card.
